Allergic to......

Kaylen was eating some cashews out of a trail mix, but accidentally got to a peanut. We didn't know at the time that she was allergic to peanuts, she has never had them before. She broke out in hives, and we gave benadryl, she was having a hard time breathing so we took her to her Doctor at Riverton Hospital. It was during nap time, so she was pretty tired, but did a great job. They did a breathing treatment and gave her a steroid medicine to help open up her air waves, and help with the inflammation.

She fell asleep before dinner cause she was so tired without a nap that day.
This was a few days before her trail mix episode. Who knew that mini chewy sweetarts had egg in them. We didn't and we forgot to check the ingredients. She broke out into about a hundred hives on her face and body. Her eyes and nose got swollen. Benadryl helped about an hour later.

Of course we back date this blog, so we have had a scratch test done on Aug. 1st and found out she is allergic to Dairy, Egg, Peanut, Dogs, & Mustard. The test also said cashews, but she eats those all the time, so the Dr. said it was a false positive which is about 50% chance. We are waiting for her next appointment with the allergist to find out the blood work results and next steps. We really hope she can out grow most of these. We knew she was allergic to Dairy and Egg, but didn't know about Peanuts until now. That just seemed to tip the scale over. Poor little girl.

There is a natural way of trying to get rid of these allergies. It's called N.A.E.T. We've had a friend of a friend try it and it's worked for 4 years of being allergy free. It's pretty expensive, but we have done about 5 treatments and haven't seen the results we wanted. We hope something works.

  2. SO SORRY to hear that she is allergic to so many foods!!!! It's hard enough to feed your kids, but I can't imagine this. Congrats on a baby boy coming your way! Also, about the newborn shoot. I am probably going to work something out with Chad about doing photography on the first Sat of every month or something like that. We will have to see when he is born since you are supposed to take them within the first 9 days.

  3. Oh, poor thing. It's so unfair. I hope she gets better really soon. I know how frustrating it could be.
