Last night was class #2 and Brandon and I both survived. We have a hard time getting to the class because there are so many other things we could be doing, but once we are there we enjoy it and learn so much. We watched a movie of 3 different mom's in the labor and delivery process. I can't lie, even I got a little squeamish-I had to close my eyes at some parts. We practiced breathing again-I think I'm good at that one. We talked about the different steps that happens during labor-good to know. Did you know that only 8% of women's water actually breaks before they start having contractions? Very small percentage, but I'm always worried that it would happen at work or while I'm sleeping and I don't want to clean up that mess! All in all here are the some of the things that I learned last night:
- Labor Pain is Purposeful
- Labor Pain is Anticipated
- Labor Pain is Intermittent
- Labor Pain is Normal
The purpose is that it brings about the birth of the baby. Pain is anticipated so prepare ahead of time by learning pain management. Thank goodness it's intermittent, which means you have a rest in between contractions. AND it's NORMAL. A women's body was designed for pregnancy and childbirth.
I've got 4 classes left and 11 more weeks until this baby girl might be ready. The question will be, am I ready?
This is so exciting!! What ever will you cover in class #3?!
ReplyDeleteThis is going to be so worth it... if you should make it natural, and it's ok if you don't, but if you do... it'll be amazing! I wonder if you'll be in the 8% who's water actually breaks! I didn't know the number was that low....
I'm rooting for you 200%!!! Knowledge is power.. and you are fabulous!
